This is a true story:
I was the supervisor on duty on a week end on the Bay Bridge, there was a report of a six car pile up just east of the 4th St on ramp. The bridge cuts down to 2 lanes (the 3rd closed due to earthquake damage) and the lane the accident was in was closed, too. Only one lane of traffic.
I get there, the crew already has out flares and is responding with CHP. FD. you name it and me. I walk back the line of cars and notice no one is seriously injuried ( a relief for me) and most are walking around and being told to get back in their cars by their drives and CHP.
This was a six car accident with one van in it. The van was the only car not being driven by an Asian and his van was full of Asians.
The fist driver took the wrong on ramp and tried to exit, hit the railing, stopped and was hit by the other 5 cars and the van. They were all in the same party, following one another.
I start making my way back toward my vehicle when a CHP asks in to help with traffic control. Part of my job, keep traffic moving on the Bay Bridge.
CHP and I are standing about 5-8 feet apart, gotta leave room to run, and we are motiioning to drivers to hurry up, they're past the blood, get moving. You really wouldn't believe some of these people.
I start yelling and pointing and CHP looks and he starts waving his hands and yelling. We start backing up.
This Asian gy was so intent on looking back at the accident that he hit the other side of the bridge! The CPH and I start laughing our asses off. He asks:
" You know how to tell when an Asian driver is going to make a left turn"?
" No".
" He has on his left turn signal and is looking to his right".
The guy kept going the CHP asks if the bridge is O.K. I say fine and we keep laughing.
Eight accident, 7 Asian drivers all in the same spot.
