Think we have sex just for pleasure or to reproduce? Well, think again, as scientists from the University of Texas have just finished compiling an exhaustive list of the reasons why people play hide-the-salami.

The Austin-based researchers say the study, published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior, is one of the most comprehensive ever, revealing 237 motivations - ranging from the spiritual to the vengeful.

"Why people have sex is extremely important, but rarely studied. Surprisingly, many scientists assume the answer is obvious, but people have different reasons for having sex, some of which are rather complex."

Well, I really think they overdid it more than a little. A lot of times, people said essentially the same thing, but in different words, and those answers got tallied as separate motivations.

I agree that they really OVERdid with that scale. But the article is pretty interesting!

I think Love is the best reason for Sex. True sex is impossible without true love, or it tends to be defective and poor...

That may be true, but I don't think people who aren't in love should give up sex.

I think you both are right, each after his kind. Maybe Lonelitude means that love is the necessary condotion of a complete sexual delight?
As about sex and happiness - I don't think they are combined so firmly, at least if say about their amounts in our world.
