Recently Marines in Iraq wrote to Starbucks because they wanted to
let them know how much they liked their coffees and to request that they
send some of it to the troops there. Starbucks replied, telling the Marines
thank you for their support of their business, but that Starbucks does not
support the war, nor anyone in it, and that they would not send the troops
their
brand of coffee.

So as not to offend Starbucks, maybe we should not support them by
buying any of their products! I feel we should get this out in the open. I
know this war might not be very popular with some folks, but that
doesn't
mean we don't support the boys on the ground f ighting street -to-street and
house-to-house.

If you feel the same as I do then pass this along, or you can
discard it and no one will never know.

Thanks very much for your support. I know you'll all be there again when I
deploy once more.

Semper Fidelis.
Sgt. Howard C. Wright
1st Force Recon Co
1st Plt PLT

PLEASE DON'T DELETE THIS . . ALLOW IT TO BE
PASSED TO ALL IN MEMORY OF ALL THE TROOPS WHO HAVE DIED SO THAT WE MAY HAVE
THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE TO SUPPORT THEM OR NOT! ! !

Also, don't forget that when the Twin Trade Towers were hit the fire
fighters and rescue workers went to Starbucks because it was close by for water for
the survivors and workers and Starbucks
charged them! ! !

I've never tasted Starbucks production but if it is really good I think this effort may be unsuccessful. An American marine won't drink foul coffee!

Letusdoit,
You've never tasted military coffee. It's all terrible!

JJ,
There is a company call Peete's Coffee out of Berekeley CA, they have a store in Davis, near me, I'll go down there and check out what they say. I'm pretty sure they'll ship their coffee to the Marines and if they won't I'll buy some and send it to them myself.
Did you know that the true name of "God" is Fedius? It means the right hand. That is how shaking of the right hand started and it is the basis for the word Fidelity.
The USMC moto: "Sempre Fidelis". Always faithful.
Peete's coffee has Starbucks beaten hands down and has been around since the 1960's. Starbucks buys the coffee Peete's rejects as not up to their standards.
One of my very good friends did 3 tours in Nam with 1st Force Recon. He was awarded the Navy Cross, 3 Silver Stars and 5 Bronze Stars and many other medals.

I would vote for Starbucks based on your story. It shows that they are not indifferent to the awful reality of the war in Irak. They are ready to lose profits for the sake of peace. Let us be frank, no one have ever died of the absence of some sort of coffee. Marines would not die due to the Starbucks boycott, but the message is pretty clear "Come back to the US and have a cup of coffee at home". Small actions made by a lot of people can change the world.

Yes, you're right! We can support our troops; but peace is what we all need. There is just too much hatred out there of one another even in every day life as well and we all need to do our part in becoming peacemakers. I know I will look for ways myself to make peace with myself and with others; and hope that peace comes to everyone as well. May you all be blessed and have peace!

12pleaseu is correct. This is not about the war or the politics of war; it is about supporting our troops in war.
Not every one was in favor of sending troops to Europe or the Pacific during WWII but, what would the world be like, today, if troops had not been sent.
It is true that the US is the top Military power in the world but, look at the inactivity of the United Nations and of NATO. If it were not for the U.S. troops and their allies the war in the Balkings would still be going on.
We must support our troops no matter what country they are from. Many European Countries have troops in Iraq and other countries where the war on terrorism is going on. To say that Bush is responsible for this war is rediciulious and naive.
I am contacting the U.S. Postal Service to learn the APO for Iraq to send them some good coffee. It is true that a good cup of coffee will not end the war but, it will help the moral of the troops.

The war in Iraq is not about terrorism, it's all about corporate profits. If you want to stop terrorism by means of military force you have to kill all muslims (impossible!). Double standards in US politics lead to even bigger problems and the troops are used as cannon fodder. Too often governments lie to beat the band, and persuade youth to fight in the wars they have no reasons to be involved in.
The soldiers dying in Iraq are not dying to protect their country. As usual, they were lied to. They're dying for corporate profits, in which they do not share, or because of a hare-brained belief that we can turn Iraq into a liberal democratic state.
Should good boys mislead into dying for someone's wrong aims be supported? Sure!
Should those companies that fight against the war in Iraq be supported? Sure, IMHO.
So let Starbucks do their business as they want. There are plenty of other companies that will be happy to take their piece of the Iraq market. But I'll be drinking Starbucks anyway!

This whole story is nothing but BS..

Do a google search on Starbucks and war...or better yet...just go to Snopes.com.

It will set you straight.

That's all I gotta say about it....

As some wise and tough guys say sometimes:

Bombing for peace is like fucking for virginity.

I don't mean particularly anybody here, so please don't mind if something wrong... :)

At least some people used this phrase as a motto on their banners during the actions against that war! Maybe their variant was more polite, i don't know.
